Total Closet Makover. We started with a major decluttering session. We then added slim but sturdy hangers to maximize hanging space, containers for the items on the shelves, two 3-tier shoe racks to free up floor space, and a bin on the floor to keep workout gear contained,

Taming of the Clothes. Six huge bags of donations made room to hang clothes properly and get things off the floor. File folding clothes made more room in the drawer and ensured no more digging through piles to find an item.

Two Closets, Multiple Purposes. This beautiful historic home in Newport was full of charm and the quirky closet layouts typical of older homes. These two guest room closets, one of them underneath stairs, had a mix of off-season clothes, beach gear, sports gear, bedding and miscellaneous items. Decluttering, categorizing, swapping items between the two, and using existing storage items maximized each closet’s storage and gave each a clear (multi) purpose.

Junk drawers no more. Drawers intended for pots, pans and small appliances were overtaken by takeout menus, reusable grocery bags, and other miscellaneous items. We got rid of the junk, moved miscellaneous items to more suitable places, and returned the pots, pans, and appliances to their rightful home. All without one organization product added.

The smaller drawers were similar. A thorough junk cleanout made plenty of room for useful items that are best stored in drawers, like ziplock bags, potholders, storage containers, and the reusable grocery bags we removed from the pot drawers. Again, without a single organization product added.

No More Sinking Feeling — when trying to find something in the under-sink cabinet!

This bathroom vanity cabinet in a rental studio apartment had organization products that weren’t making full use of the vertical space or providing enough storage for everything the client needed to keep there.

Solution? Deep stackable drawers—labeled, of course—plus shallow bins for more frequently accessed items, like the hair dryer and body lotions. Backstock of products are stored behind.

This kitchen sink cabinet needed a product pare-down and just one two-tier drawer unit to get it under control. Most-used cleaners were placed in the top drawer, with sponges and magic erasers below. An unused acrylic corner shelf was turned from clutter to container. It was repurposed to hold specialized cleaning products. And garbage bags are now easily accessible at the front.
